Too Good For Drugs - Save the Date!
Too Good For Drugs Graduation will be Wednesday, March 23rd at 1:30 p.m.

Notes about "Think Spring Spirit Week"
Although we want everyone to participate in our spirit week activities, please keep in mind that 5th graders have TGFD Graduation on Wednesday, and it is expected that students dress appropriately for the occasion. Also, 5th graders visit Naper Settlement on Thursday, and students need to dress appropriately for the weather since several activities will be outside during this field trip.
Monday - Spring Training Day - Cubs vs. Sox spirit wear
Tuesday - Hat & Shades Day - Wear your favorite hat and sunglasses
Wednesday - Think Spring Day - Wear spring colors
Thursday - Comfy Clothes Day - Wear your most comfortable clothes to school

Subject Update:

  • ELA (English/Language Arts) - We will continue our theme Nature's Fury. Students will read a picture book entitled, Eight Days: A Story of Haiti. In this text, students will learn how point of view and perspective influence the way a story is told. Students will also continue working with "thin" and "thick" questions. A quiz over perfect tense verbs is planned for Tuesday, then we will learn how to use our knowledge of different verb tenses to convey changes in time in our writing.
  • Science - We will learn about atoms and the particles that make them up. We will also learn how atoms are combined in different ways to create molecules.
  • Social Studies - Students will review how the French explored and built settlements along the Mississippi River. Then we will begin to read about the French and Indian War, a war that had the British, French, and Native Americans fighting for control of a large part of North America.
  • Mrs. Strong's Math Class - The Topic 6, Lesson 4-5 Homework Review is planned for Monday, then we will spend a day reviewing for the Topic 6 Test planned for Wednesday.
